Today, we come together to celebrate the cross-strait relations Association’s 20th anniversary, the two sides reviewed traversed an extraordinary course of consultation and look forward to future development of cross-strait relations, it makes sense. First of all, on behalf of the CPC Central Committee and State Council, the 20th anniversary of the Association for warm congratulations! To promote cross-strait relations over the years to make a positive contribution to the development of all walks of life to express my sincere gratitude and extend my sincere greetings!

to solve the Taiwan question and achieve complete national reunification is the common aspiration of all Chinese people. Conduct cross-strait consultations and negotiations, by peaceful means the only way to achieve reunification of the motherland. Central Taiwan, the major policies of the work an important part of consultations and negotiations is advocated by both sides, and gradually resolve their issues, and constantly promote the peaceful development of cross-strait relations. We have repeatedly stressed that the basis of the principle of one China, any issue can be discussed, including various issues of concern to the Taiwan side can be discussed. Since June 2008, two consultations in the “1992 consensus” on the basis of recovery and smoothly, signed 16 agreements and reached broad consensus, and creating a new situation of peaceful development of cross-strait relations have made valuable contributions. – we actively support cross-strait economic cooperation framework agreement to promote the follow-up consultations, in order to deepen cross-strait economic cooperation more effective system of protection for Taiwanese companies to provide broader space for development of Taiwan’s economy to provide more useful support for the common prosperity of both sides to provide more favorable economic conditions. In response to the current international economic situation of profound changes in the European sovereign debt crisis and the impact, the more necessary by the cross-strait economic cooperation mechanism established to strengthen coordination and work together to improve cross-strait economic competitiveness and enhance the ability to resist external risks. The two sides also discussed joint development of cross-strait economic cooperation mechanism with the Asia-Pacific regional economic convergence of the possible ways to expand the world market for Taiwan enterprises to create more favorable conditions.

– we want to actively promote the signing of cross-strait cultural and educational aspects of the exchange agreement, in order to facilitate the development of cross-strait cultural and educational undertakings, to enhance cross-strait cultural and educational exchanges and cooperation in cultural industries, the level of compatriots on both sides to enhance mutual understanding and emotional harmony.

– We advocate the two sides in foreign affairs to avoid unnecessary friction, understanding and attention to the Taiwan compatriots to participate in international activities concerned with the issue, willing to make a reasonable cross-strait consultations by arrangement. We believe that cross-strait relations develop smoothly without unexpected turn, cross-strait negotiations will benefit the people more positive results are entirely expected.
