A: Asia-Pacific region is the world’s most dynamic and potential of the region, while countries in the region also face some common challenges. Asia-Pacific countries should be based on the spirit of mutual respect, deal with regional issues through consultation and cooperation to achieve mutual benefit and win-win situation. United States reached consensus on building partnerships, including the Asia-Pacific affairs on both sides to strengthen communication and coordination to jointly safeguard regional peace, stability and prosperity. China is willing to work with the U.S., to seriously implement the consensus.

Q: Does China and ASEAN countries to develop “the South China Sea Code of Conduct” position?

A: “South China Sea Code of Conduct,” China and ASEAN countries signed in 2002, “Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea Declaration”, has developed “South China Sea Code of Conduct” as a goal. The Chinese side when conditions are ripe to explore the development of “the South China Sea Code of Conduct” open-minded. A: IAEA Board is considering a resolution on the Iranian nuclear issue, China and the six-nation nuclear issue, Iraq mechanisms other member states to participate in a co-sponsor the resolution. This resolution is committed to promoting cooperation between Iran and the IAEA to support the parties in solving the issue through dialogue and diplomatic efforts.

China believes that the Iraqi nuclear issue can only be resolved through dialogue and cooperation. Dialogue and cooperation requires joint efforts of all parties concerned. Mechanism of the six countries with serious and pragmatic dialogue with Iran in the IAEA to strengthen cooperation with Iran, is to seek for a comprehensive, long-term and proper solution the right way. We believe that the IAEA should act in an impartial and objective stance, actively committed to working with Iraq to clarify the issue through cooperation. Iran is also necessary to show greater flexibility and sincerity, cooperation and institutions carefully.

China will take to the international nuclear non-proliferation mechanism and the Middle East peace and stability in a highly responsible attitude and firmly promote the six-nation process of dialogue with Iran, for the peaceful settlement of the issue of diplomatic efforts continue play a constructive role.

Q: Russia has said that Syria tensions, the opposition’s behavior may lead to civil war. What is your comment? Opposition to Syria’s views?

A: China has always advocated and supported by Syria as soon as possible on broad participation and inclusive political process, to respond to the Syrian people’s reasonable expectations and demands. The international community should make concerted efforts to play a constructive role in achieving these goals.

Q: It is reported that the leaders of China and Indonesia met in Bali, agreed that the East Asia Summit should be introduced controversial political and security issues. Whether this is the consensus of the East Asia Summit?

A: China believes that the East Asia Summit should focus on development and promote cooperation. We are not opposed to discussing political and security issues, but should focus on non-traditional security field. We do not want to bring a number of controversial issues on the meeting, destroy the good atmosphere of cooperation.

Q: U.S. Secretary of State Clinton’s visit to Myanmar next month. How does China view the United States access to Burma?

A: We would like to see the United States and other Western countries to strengthen contacts with Myanmar, to improve relations, but also hope that Myanmar’s internal and external policies are conducive to peace and stability in Myanmar.

Q: Munich Security Conference held in Beijing this week, please give us some details.

A: On Sunday, the Munich Security Conference, the third “core group” meeting will be held in Beijing. According to conference organizers wish to take some of the internal discussions of the meeting form. I believe the meeting will help participants strengthen exchanges, enhance mutual understanding and trust.
